There was a ton of controversy regarding Tony getting the chance to perform the song considering rumors were flaring the song was to diva bitch Christina Aguilera.
You can tell on her face & her brief on camera squabble with Adam Levine that those rumors have to be true.
In fact, once she heard that Tony Lucca was planning to perform the song as a dig to Christina (since she’s been unreasonably hard on him this season), production of The Voice had to be shut down.
